Super Savings Saturday 10/10 October 10, 2009

This week I took advantage of Meijer’s brand sale.  I used two mealbox coupons, but only one manufacturer’s coupon for the Clorox.  Overall I think I did pretty well.  I was shopping not only for our family, but I am cooking for 15 on Sunday, so I had to buy things to make chili, cornbread, and caramel corn to feed a crowd.   I was underbudget last week, and only $15 over this week with the additional cost of the meal for tomorrow, so I think it will even out over the month.

Here are the results:

P1050871

P1050872

P1050873

Total: $65.84

Saved: $47.07   Thats 42%!!!

The total would have been $74.59, but I used a $10 gift card I received for transferring a prescription to Meijer.

Although it wasn’t a great week for savings, I still stocked up on things we use often, and was able to purchase food for tomorrow without breaking the bank.  I think that by buying during sales and stockpiling, my cost to make the food will be around $1.50 per person for dinner, dessert, and drinks.

It just goes to show you can shop smart and still save without using gobs of coupons!  For more information and a little help to get started check this out!

Also check out the savings of some other coupon maniacs at Money Saving Mom’s “Super Savings Saturday“!

Meijer Trip 9/24

P1050751

I had ALOT  of rainchecks (one was for the waffle mix that I am going to use for my new Waffle Maker!) from past weeks and a $6 coupon off my purchase thanks to the Kool-Aid I got paid to buy last week, so I am just going to lay out the current deals that I snagged and the coupons I used.  I really want to stress the importance of getting rainchecks!  These can be a great tool to obtaining huge savings.  If a store is out of a particular item that you want to buy, go to customer service and they will issue you a raincheck good for thirty days.  (At Meijer, the quantity on the raincheck is 6, but if you were going to buy more ask for two rainchecks.  An example of where you would want to do this would be if they were out of the canned vegetables this week.)

**The items that I bought multiple of had tons left of the shelf.  If there had only been a few, I would have not bought as many.  I definitely don’t want to be a shelf clearer!

A Few More GREAT Deals At Meijer September 23, 2009

Filed under: Meijer — domesticallydunn @ 4:48 pm
Tags: , , , , , ,

Just talked to my friend Traci, and found out some more deals you can’t miss at Meijer!

.

Mayfield Ice Cream $2.49

$2 off 9/13 SS

$1 off 9/13 SS

Net:  $.49 to 1.49 !!!

..

Pillsbury Grands $.99

$.35 off (doubles to .70) 7/12 SS

$.50 off 2 (doubles to 1.00) 8/9 GM

.

Deal Idea:

Buy 6 and use 2 ($.35 off) and 2 ($.50 off 2)

Math looks like this:

.

6 x .99 (price of buiscuits)  $5.94

-2 x .70 (.35 doubled)    –   1.40

-2 x 1.00(.50 doubled)  –    2.00

Total                               = $2.54 for 6 cans

.

But WAIT!!  You will get a catalina printed for $2 off your next shopping trip.So the price is essentially $.54 for 6 cans of buiscuits!!!

Don’t forget that if Meijer is out of an item, you can get a raincheck at the customer service desk!  I have to get them every week at my Meijer because they are always out of something!

Have fun!

$1/2 printable Coupons.com

$1/1 Meijer Mealbox (print 5)

Net: $1.95 total for 5 boxes!

For other Meijer deals click here and here.

For those who are new to couponing these are the definitions to the abbreviations in this post:

RP – Red Plum insert in Sunday Paper

SS – Smart Source insert in Sunday Paper

Some reminders:

You can use a manufacturers coupon and a meijer mealbox coupon on the same item.

Meijer will only double two of the same coupon per transaction.  They double coupons up to $1, so $.50 will be $1, and .$75 will be $1.  If you want to buy more than two of an item that you have coupons for, just split them up into two transactions.

Be sure to scroll through all the Meijer Mealbox printable coupons to look for anything you may need.

Please leave any questions in the comments.

Super Savings Saturday (a little late) September 21, 2009

Sooo, this post is a little tardy but I am participating in the Super Saturday Savings feature at Money Saving Mom.

Each week on Domestically Dunn I will post my grocery trip(s).  I will include pictures and highlight my best deals with the percentage saved.  Hopefully, this will be encouraging to see how coupons can definitely be worth the time.

Soon, I will be starting a series outlining how you can get started saving.  Hint… the first step is to get all the coupon inserts you can get your hands on!

Saturday (9/19) my newlywed friend Holly and I had a blast at Meijer.  She is new to couponing and was tagging along to learn and keep me company.  Here are the results:

P1050741

Total Paid:  $50.63

Total Saved:  $114.18

Saved: 69%

Some of the best deals were the Nabisco 100 Calorie Snacks ($.62 for the total of 5 boxes), Aunt Jemima Pancake mix ($.50/box), DiGiorno Flatbread Melts ($1.00 for 2 boxes), General Mills Cereal (6 boxes for $2.29 total), and finally the Kool Aid Singles.  We don’t use Kool-Aid around our house but I got paid $7 dollars to buy them, so I guess I will figure out something to do with them. 🙂

If you are wondering how in the world I am doing this, don’t worry… I will be sharing the info soon!
